Technology is a wide term that embraces a lot of what we do at Crane Currency. From research and development, through product and process optimisation, our technology team has one goal that drives them – to identify, develop and adapt new technologies to make banknotes more secure. Within the Technology Division we have two core activities – Technology Products & Technology Services.

TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS
Our Technology Product range incorporates paper-based security features (overt and covert) such as threads, watermarks, fibres and other embedded features. Included in this product range is MOTION, the new standard in optical security features. We have chosen to embed a large amount of technology-based features within the substrate in response to a growing body of evidence demonstrating higher rates of public recognition of embedded security features.

TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
Our Technology Services are quite broad in their scope covering all factors used when optimising a banknote design. With so many security feature suppliers and so much to choose from it is more important than ever to study, analyse and base one’s decisions on fact and evidence rather than words alone. For that reason we have established a range of services to enable central banks and banknote printers to make informed decisions based on their specific needs and those of their cash-cycle.
